Since its founding in May, 1970, the Ocean County Coin Club has worked hard to promote coin collecting and the study of numismatics. The coin club also assists beginners and young collectors with its meetings, coin shows, and newsletter.
At each meeting on the first and third Thursday of each month, there are show & tells, junior programs, and announcements. An auction is held once every month at the meetings, and educational programs are held when there is no auction. OCCC also has a birthday drawing for a proof set held quarterly. Every May, a Chinese auction is held, and a token and medal auction is held in June for the benefit of the club. The club's annual banquet is in October, at the The Lobster Shanty. OCCC Members may use the club's library, which consists of numerous numismatic reference books.
OCCC's meetings are held at the Ocean Fire House of Point Pleasant Beach, at the corner of Arnold and St. Louis Avenues. For directions, email Jim Majoros at email@example.com. The juniors' meeting lasts from 6:45-7:30, and the adult meeting begins at 7:30 and ends by 9:00 PM (juniors are welcome to stay for both meetings). Meetings generally end around 9:00; however, you may leave at any time.
The Ocean County Coin Club has two free admission coin shows per year, one in early September and a smaller show during national coin week. OCCC's coin shows have been held since 1972. The shows feature many local coin dealers, a junior collector's table, and numismatic exhibits. There is also an auction for young collectors held during the show.
